At Simi Valley, UMC children are a vital part of our beloved community. Children are born with an innate sense of wonder and faith that is real and authentic. Our role is to provide a foundation of experiences on which children build a life of learning and growth toward a mature and vital faith
We hope your family will join us as we grow in faith together. We have many opportunities for children to participate in faith formation through small group educational opportunities, music ministries, and inter generational activities.
SUNDAY SCHOOL
Sunday school classes are offered in the Education Building for PreK through 5th grade. Children begin by attending the worship service with their families every Sunday for the first 15 minutes so they might participate within corporate worship. Then they will gather together in the Fireside Room for a large group opening and praise time. After the opening, they will divide into age-appropriate groups for lessons and activities.
Infants may remain in worship with their families or visit the nursery for play and story time.
FAITH IN ACTION
Faith is more than a belief, it is an action. Occasionally, all Sunday School children gather together as one class for a hands-on service project. Projects vary from crafty outreach such as making Christmas Cards for shut-ins to community-focused projects like gathering and donating school supplies for local students. This is an opportunity for children to reach out into their community and their world with grace and love.
CHERUB and CHILDREN’s CHOIR
Our children’s vocal choir groups rehearse following worship. Cherub Choir (for children in Prek-1st grade) rehearse in Room 5. Children’s Choir (for children 2nd –5th grade) rehearse in the Fireside Room. Both choirs sing regularly in Sunday worship as well as participating in special musical events and singing at the Family Christmas Eve service.
UNITED METHODIST YOUTH FELLOWSHIP
A time to Worship, Serve, and Grow in Christ!
Kid’s Bell Choir is for children in 3rd-5th grade.
Wonderful Wednesdays is for children 4 yrs old – 5th grade.
Kidz Bells will meet from 5:00—5:30 p.m. Ringers in this choir will focus on basic skills, including learning to read music, learning to play as a group, and of course, learning the basic techniques of how to ring. Children, 3rd-5th, are welcome to participate.
Wonderful Wednesdays will return October 12th and is for all children 4 years old – 5th grade. Kids will join together with friends to grow and build their faith through praise, prayer, Bible study and a variety of engaging activities (science experiments, games, etc. ) Check with Pastor Stacy to sign-up.
Wonderful Wednesdays begins with dinner at 5:30 p.m. followed by program from 6:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m.
